Behr 2022 Color Trends and Forecast

By Helen Adams Realty - September 15, 2021

A Color Resembling a Breath of Fresh Air

As we look forward to 2022, many of us are feeling called to seek adventure, both near and far, to move forward, and to discover a sense of calm and peace. While this looks different for all of us, BEHR, the leading paint and color company, has ventured to breathe life into these aspirations through their recently released 2022 color trends forecast

The BEHR 2022 Color of the Year is a literal breath of fresh air named Breezeway MQ3-21.  BEHR says Breezeway was inspired by “naturally stunning sea glass found on the shore of salty beaches.” The company believes this color and the rest of their 2022 palette will encourage people to embrace the path ahead with optimistic and uplifted spirits.

A similar color to Breezeway was found in Calla Willox’s Tega Cay listing. This is a fitting example of BEHR’s 2022 Color of the Year,
especially seeing this property is near the coast of Lake Wylie.

Flexible Spaces with BEHR's Color Trends

The 20-color palette consists of some dramatic colors along with cool tones. Utilizing a color like taupe and other neutrals along with the more dramatic and bold colors helps to balance a room and brings calmness and inspiration to the forefront.

The 2022 BEHR Color Trends

It is exciting to see some of these colors in our past and recent listings. See below for how some of our past sellers decided to incorporate these colors into their homes. Notice the color combinations and how some colors unexpectedly go well together.

A painted office wall in Keith Hensel’s listing offers a similar hue to Dark Cobalt Blue

The Great Room of Melissa Brown’s new listing has a fresh and relaxing appearance with a grey,
shiplap accent wall and live plants to balance the room.

Libby Gonyea’s past listing’s kitchen has a dark and dramatic island with a touch of green in the chairs.
BEHR states that this mix expresses an "earthly connection with a hint of playfulness."

A past listing of Ellen Kelly’s truly boasts the theme of this year’s palette with the room painted in a similar color to Sunwashed Brick,
the rustic swing, and the live plant along with the mid-century couch.

Your Next Home Project

In 2021, their color palette leaned more towards enhancing comfort levels and becoming more at ease in our homes with shades ranging from gentle neutrals to energizing bolds. With BEHR’s optimistic and forward-focusing outlook of this year, the colors have a calm yet inspirational feel.

When planning for your upcoming home project, be encouraged to move forward and utilize colors that may push you out of your comfort zone.
